Legend of CSSD retires
Colleague, friend, seasider – Stan Graham, retires after more than 30 years’ commitment and service to the NHS family.
Stan, who has been the bedrock of the CSSD department, began his career in 1988 as a mechanical maintenance fitter, before taking on the mantel of Decontamination Lead for CSSD.
Stan said: "I want to say thank you to everyone who has been connected with myself during my 32 years working within the NHS family.
Sadly, due to the current situation, I will not be able to engage with people as I would have liked for my retirement day. But know that you will always be remembered.
I have really enjoyed everyone’s friendship and help during my time in the NHS family.”
Speaking about his career, Stan said: “Although there are many stand out memories of working in the NHS.
I am especially proud to have renewed most of the equipment in CSSD, as well as setting up the new Endoscope unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.”
A lifelong seasider, Stan continues: “One of the most fun moments was organising a coach trip from the Estates workshop to Wembley – to see Blackpool promoted to the premier league!”
Stan adds: “I am extremely proud to have been part of the NHS and wish everyone well.”
Atlas’ Interim CEO, Jimmy Maguire, said: “I have known Stan from his Devonshire Road days, where he came across to the Victoria and worked alongside me and the Estates team, to implement different systems.
Today, on my return to the Trust, I see the systems that Stan implemented have stood the test of time.”
Jimmy continues: “I have in the past tried to sway Stan towards supporting Preston North End, but he wasn’t for turning!
I wish him all the happiness he deserves for the future.”
