Clifton Hospital celebrates
30 years of patient care
W
hat a jolly good time we all had celebrating Clifton Hospital’s 30th Birthday!
September marked the Hospital’s ‘Pearl’ Anniversary and what better way to celebrate this momentous achievement than hosting a party.
We were joined by a whole host of guests, from those that had previously worked at the hospital, to patients, the current workforce, local dignitaries and friends from the local community.
ATLAS (BFW Management) was honoured to be part of the celebrations. The Catering Team served a delightful selection of homemade scones and cakes. They even surprised guests with a beautiful crafted birthday cake for everyone to enjoy.
Live musical entertainment was provided by Guy, the DJ. Guests could have a go at winning the Tombola for a small donation and we even had a few stalls which proved to be extremely popular too.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Fylde joined us for the occasion, Mayoress Caroline Collins used to work at Clifton Hospital. Past employees enjoyed the opportunity to catch-up with long service employees, who spent time reminiscing of days gone by.
Reflecting on the day, Courtney Bickerdike Clinical Matron at Clifton Hospital, said:
“It was a really enjoyable day and it was lovely to see so many guests including former staff members who came to show their support. We also raised more than £350 which will go towards ongoing patient care.
“A huge thank you to everyone who came along and all those who supported this fantastic community hospital. Here’s to the next 30 years.”
As part of the 30th birthday celebrations Clifton Hospital’s second phase of the patient garden was also unveiled earlier on in August. Actor and comedian Bobby Ball cut the ribbon to reveal the stunning new space for patients and staff.
The project was supported by Bobby and Fylde Councillor Brenda Blackshaw who donated £30,000 from his star-studded Lowther Show ‘Let the Sunshine In’ that took place last year.
The garden now provides a beautiful setting for patients and staff to enjoy whilst relaxing in their local surroundings. The upkeep of the garden will fall to our dedicated team of gardeners from Atlas BFW Management.
